NEW CLASS!!! Beginning Competitive Obedience
VHOC Members and Friends,
The Valley Hills Obedience Club is offering a Beginning Competitive Obedience class to our members and friends with Instructor Patti Rovtar, a long-time club member and active competitor in the sport of obedience. The class is for teams who are interested in learning the basics of Competitive Obedience. The goal is to establish a solid foundation of attention, engagement and enjoyment for the exercises needed to obtain a Companion Dog or Beginner Novice title in AKC Obedience. Patti will be teaching heeling, stands, recalls, fronts and finishes along with ring entries and ringside etiquette for new exhibitors. The class will provide appropriate guidance for individual teams with a balanced use of methods conducive to learning.
Teams should have successfully completed a basic obedience and manners class or equivalent. The ongoing class will be held on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 at our training site: Canoga Park Lutheran Church, 7357 Jordan Avenue, Canoga Park. Cost for the six-week series is $100 for VHOC club members, $125 for non-club members. As competence is gained, teams will have the skills needed to move into VHOC’s Advanced Competitive Obedience class.
Enrollment for this class will be limited to 8 teams with a tentative start date of April 2. If you would like to register for the six-week series, please contact Patti Rovtar at rovstar@dslextreme.com.
